Correspondence, deeds, reminiscences, military papers, estate papers, account books, inventories, wills, shipping papers, maps, photographs, and other materials, of/or relating to the descendants of John (1660-1709) and Joseph (1670-1726) Wakeman, sons of Samuel Wakeman (1657-1691), who was son of the original settler John Wakeman. Also includes papers of Eli Wakeman (1768-1858), who administered estates, dug graves, and sold dry goods and livestock; Henry Burr Wakeman (1820-1892), agriculturalist and fruit raiser of Greens Farms, Conn.; Jabez Wakeman (1706-1774) and his wife, Ruth Readwell Wakeman; Jessup Wakeman (1771-1844), revenue collector; four generations of Joseph Wakemans; Mary Catherine Hull Wakeman (b. 1813), wife of William Webb Wakeman; and five generations of Samuel Wakemans, including Samuel Wakeman (1713-1752), member of the local militia and Samuel Wakeman (1734-1804), sawmill owner trading also in meat and cider.
